OpenLG: Fixing local government softwareThe OpenLG project has two aims:
Many local government authorities are locked into proprietary administration software systems costing hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in licensing and support fees, yet which are inflexible and difficult or impossible to customise for specific needs. Complaints about the poor performance, reliability and support provided by these proprietary systems are unfortunately all too common. The OpenLG project aims to help fix this situation by assisting local government IT departments to evaluate and implement practical open source alternatives. Anyone involved in or interested in local government IT is welcome to contribute to the OpenLG project. The place to start is the OpenLG Mailing List. |
